If you're coming in a few days early, or staying beyond Saturday, here are a few things you might like to see / do:
1) Historic St. Augustine
Downtown St. Augustine has preserved some of their Spanish heritage that dates back to the 1500s. Though it's not as quaint as Colonial Williamsburg (and what could be, really?), there are many good restaurants, bars, and shops. Blake and Bre recommend The Floridian, JP Henley's, the Ice Plant, and O'Steens. St. Augustine also has a winery - neither of us have been there yet, but we hear good things. St. Augustine is about a 40 minute drive south from Jacksonville Beach.

2) Rent bicycles from Jax Beach Surf Shop
One of our favorite things to do is just bicycle up and down 1st Street in Jacksonville / Neptune / Atlantic Beach. You can stop at restaurants, bars, and shops along the way, ride on the beach at low tide, and look at some of the really big homes in Atlantic Beach! JBSS also rents paddle boards and surf boards if you're up for that.

3) Beaches Oktoberfest
Beaches Oktoberfest will be taking place Fri. 10/16 - Sun. 10/18 at the Sea Walk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach (1st St. N. at the beach). This is a free event (though sadly, the beer is not) that will showcase beer, food trucks, a Dogtoberfest event, and polka bands. All of the beach festivals are good for people watching, if nothing else!

4) Golf
Jacksonville Beach has a municipal course that seems to be mediocre, but cheap! There are also some really nice courses around in Atlantic Beach Country Club, and Sawgrass down in Ponte Vedra.

5) Shopping
If you'd like to get some shopping in while you're here, the St. Johns Town Center is your best bet. It has many of the major clothing stores, plus new ones that they seem to add by the day! St. Augustine is home to the Premium Outlets - your typical outlet mall, about a 45 minute drive from the Jacksonville Beaches.
